Hello, comrades. I'm sorry to say that I will be inactive for quite some time. Few weeks ago, I had accidentally spilled some Coke on my laptop, which, in turn, unfortunately shorted it out. So, that means that until I can get a new one, I will not be able to play Unreal, or anything else that's PC related for that matter, and who knows how long that will take? As you are reading this, please know that this was all typed on a tablet, and that I hope to see you all again soon.
Your friend, Beemo The Heartless.

Re: Going inactive for a while
I feel for ya.
My new PC got fried by a power surge and now I am using my old 32 bit PC with a fresh XP.
It crashes randomly and regularly so I can't even play games on it.
2 things to remember in future then (this goes for everyone);
No liquids near electronic equipment (or buy a cup with a spout).
and use a laptop like a regular PC to reduce wear and risk, eg. plug in a keyboard and mouse, and even a second monitor.
It surprises me that laptop owners rarely make use of 2 screens.
Normally if your laptop is expected to last a while you can usually expect the keyboard or some keys to fail, so I always recommend starting with a suitable keyboard for use at home.
....hmmmm
If it is an Android tablet you could install BusyBox Linux extensions, Lil’ Debi: Mobile Debian, or Debian Kit
https://vivaldi.net/userblogs/entry/droid-tools (half way down)
Then you can possibly install Unreal
https://icculus.org/~ravage/unreal/unrealgold/ (3 options)
Plug in a mini USB converter and you can use a regular mouse and keyboard

I am sorry to hear that Beemo, that was bad luck. How about warranty? Can you still enforce it for the laptop? If not then you have to buy a new one

Re: Going inactive for a while
Take the battery out and place the laptop into a box of rice to try drying it out, there is a chance it may still work if you dry it out.

This will not work unless it is the correct cpu architecture, and even if it is the correct architecture it will likely run too slowly to play.Dr.Flay wrote:I feel for ya.

Nay, I believe the warranty is over, too. ; (Nikola wrote:I am sorry to hear that Beemo, that was bad luck. How about warranty? Can you still enforce it for the laptop? If not then you have to buy a new one

Re: Going inactive for a while
get everything that was subjected to the soda drink and get a pan or something. okay for example the keyboard and motherboard
do the motherboard first
and soak it in 70% or higher clear rubbing alcohol for a few hours, maybe use an old toothbrush thats clean of toothpaste and scrub the board on the affected areas. let it dry for a few hours after its all clean, then do the keyboard just soak in in the alcohol then let that dry for about a day
if its removeable, take the battery off the board
put it back together and it may work

It's a little too late for that.mrc333777 wrote:get everything that was subjected to the soda drink and get a pan or something. okay for example the keyboard and motherboard
