Here is a tip I noticed recently..

After you have used the last jump in your jump boots - turn them off.

Old boots are still useful; you can still use them to fall from great heights with no loss of health...

As you fall turn them on again ... land safely... then turn them off again..

If you leave them on and jump they will be dropped from your inventory.

* running through new boots tops them up....
