Slow downloads with unreal gold.

While making the SuperCache file for Sickpups from the online server I grew weary of the slow pausing, take for ever downloads. I decided to try and find a way around it. To make a long story short. I changed from D3D to software render in my options video. It instantly fixed the download problems from the on line server . I downloaded over 500 mb of cache files in around 4 hours. Try this someone like sponge that has the download problem You can cut and paste ur cache file to the desktop and try to download from the server to test this and see if it fixes your download problems as well. I am not suggesting you play like this, but pehaps download from the server you use over a few days and then you can change back to D3D. (or better yet get super cache)

Post your results here, I am extremely curious if anyone else sees the same result. Also curious if this has the same effect on dialup players?

Downloading from server doesnt lag the game. But for your own sake, not to have to wait to get in the game, get supercache.

F7 (if you don't have a single player game going) and F8 (fills up your system file with a maximum 255 screenshots) will make DL's 3-4 times as fast, just FYI.

I use F6.

Often after using F6 which is quick save, two things occasionaly happen. You get a crash or it fails to connect to server after download is complete and then you must reconnect which is a bad thing for Unrealgold as it freezes the score board and leaves ghosts in the map till the next map change.

Yes, ur correct about this. I often gotta reconnect if i keep hitting it.
I noticed that if download is about 95% and dont use F6 after that, it works fine.

I usually render the screen in a window and move it around if my download freezes.

That 2.5 mins is after downloads! even if i download Super cache it wont stop doing it!
Logan said i have to send my .ini to someone who can fix this! Logan use 226 too and he had this issue too, it is fixed now for him!

Go to your Unreal.ini, Look for PurgeCacheDays, make sure it is set to 0, install the super cache
