disabling directx input solves the cirsor problem, i forget where in the ini file i found that flagnow though :(

the dx9 suport is far better and swithing from windowed to fullscreen and back is virtualy instantaneous compared to 226.

some people complain about the Dp decal but i love it.

Mind you, the side effect of disabling direct input is, that any extra mouse buttons you may be using are no longer captured.

I had a mouse with extra buttons but i dont think unreal has any use for them,
however i did experiment and put a keybind for all those unknowns
and it fired a couple of them when i pressed them.

I think its also recomended to use the same flag seting in 226 too.

if you look in the user.ini file you see lots of unknowns,such as
Unknown9D=
I wrote a macro in an editor so it was easy to edit all lines like that to say the unknown button presed.

Unknown9D=say Unknown9D

then when i presed my buttons it just told me wich one to use to make use of it.

The only problem I have with 227e so far is with OpenGL graphics. When you minimise the game to get to the desktop and then restore the graphics are corrupted. Lots of triangles in various unreal textures for the map you are in. The only way to fix it is to restart, its unplayable until you do.

Have you tried 'flush' ?

Sometimes it works, but I don't know how it's under OpenGL

This patch is available in our download section if you desire to try it. I advise backing up your unreal folder by making a copy of it prior to installing this. If you have problems there is a forum devoted to this patch on

You will loose you ini files...etc.... - and there is no roll back.. So you could just backup the lot (\SYSTEM) - or expect to reinstall from orig-disc.

ini files are different so you can just copy the old ones in... well you could but it wouldn't have the new config... :)

Patch 227F is available for download. I remain committed to 225 servers and Unreal gold but it available on our downloads in the patches folder. The Old Unreal group has worked lots of hours on this. A tremendous effort and it may fit your desires for what you want in gaming. I will not be running or hosting for download 227 maps as they are not compatable with 225.
